    Another Note....

Well well, here I am again sitting at pastor Erlis' place on the veranda enjoyin the sound of crickets and night time noises and the beautiful, damp, night time breeze! This wks been VBS up at Laura Church, been quite a riot, had bout 150 kids the first mornin then 190 yesterday and then today I think we pushed 200 easily! Games and snack station is a real highlight for the kids I've been havin great fun helpin Dustin "control" them. Bacon in the Middle was a total hit then Knockout too, known as Lightnin at home. This evenin we had cottage meetings at an older couples place was in charge of singin and stuff, it was great, thankfully it didn't rain since we mostly all stood outside. Tomorrow we have VBS again in the mornin then in the afternoon me n pastor Erlis are headed to the beach with a bunch of kids that were at church on Sunday mornin, our bribe to get them to church. For supper then were prolly goin to a fort up top here close by and doin some explorin n stuff then a lantern lit supper in the eve......well so long for now, Thanx for your prayers! Well guys i dont know what all to say! Life is absolutely awesome here, so laid back! The other afternoon when there wasn't much goin on me and pastor erlis went out visitin in the community and jus showin me around, then we've done numerous remodelin projects here and there, paintin, knockin out walls, installin sub floors, etc. We had yth night last night a very rowdy group of kids were there i was in charge of games....quite interestin since we had to play "johny cant cross my bridge" in the church cause of the rain. Then today we helped clean an apartment and move some beds and appliances around to different appartments here for the mission. Helped clean one appartment that was absolutely full of cockroaches.....good fun!!! lol (poor girls) This afternoon we rigged up a big speaker on the truck and a cpl guys rode round on that announcin vbs for nx wk while the rest of us passed out invitations and stuff in the communitties. Right now I'm chillin at pastor erlis' w/ the 2 single girls down here, had supper at pastor johns w/ a community boy, interestin guy that can't quit talkin. Ain't got a whole lot goin this eve.....jus chillaxin I guess. Morrow church is at 10 then idk what we'll do in the afternoon maybe go into town or somethin, the beach, who knows.....then church again in the eve.

  • Grenada Update.....

Hey guys thot I'd jus give a qwick short update on whats happenin here in Grenada.....

We traveled from SMBI monday night and then tuesday....arriving here in Grenada bout 8:30 yesterday afternoon.  After being awake about 40 hrs...we traveled to our places where we will be stayin that night then got a good nights sleep last night.  Today I had orientation some this mornin then all those who are plannin on helpin with the Bible School at Laura Church had an orientation and meeting b4 we start that nx wk.  Myself and Dustin Martin, another WATER student, are in charge of doing the games and snack.  We're plannin on doin the 5 station rotation as we do at home.  After lunch myself and Pastor Erlis sanded, stripped, and started repainting a wash machine.  We ran into town, not a whole lot different then the states accept that its of course Carribean....after we finished that I had supper then left early walkin to church to jus get some scenery in and get to know the area a little better.....

I've thoroughly enjoyed my stay here so far.  I am staying with John and Rachel Brubaker in the La Bouri area of the Island, which is about 10 miles by bout 20.  The weather is great...sure beats GA!!!  Today all day its been prolly in the 70's and right now its bout 65....its not extremely humid either. However, it is the beginning of the rainy season and it does shower off and on.  It's is really awesome here, its great to be able to see "colored" ppl again and gettin to associate with them.  The language is great, hardly any language barrier at all, sometime i've got to ask them to slow down a bit but its fairly simple communicating.  We'll I'd better go, got about a 15 minute walk back to where I'm stayin thru a "hood."

Thanx again for all ya'lls prayers...etc!  Sure appreciated.....ttyl

    "Whatever It Takes"

Hey all ya'll folks that still keep up with Xanga!!  I guess I've been blessed with the opportunity to go to Grenada this summer with the WATER team from SMBI!  Anyway in doin some homework and stuff before planning to leave I came across some challenging and encouraging verses from Matthew 28 "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."  Verse 18 was the one that really stood out to me!  We've all heard the "Go ye therefore" part of this scripture but how many of us have really paid attention to the first verse,  "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth."  That is Jesus speaking and if we are given power through Him, what have we to fear??  I mean ALL the power in heaven and earth?  I don't think we can comprehend what all that includes!!  We dont have to worry about failing when we try to do somethin for Christ,  We don't have to worry about our reputation bein ruined, and there is much more we don't have to worry about!!  We can just give it all to Jesus and do "Whatever It Takes" to win souls for God's Kingdom!!  Let's get off our lazyboys, skip the fishin trip in the eve and  give food to the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, be hospitable to the stranger, clothe the naked, and visit the sick and them in prison!!!  We'll I'll shut up and quite my "preaching,"  but if ya'll think of me over the next several weeks etc....pray for me!  I covet your prayers and support!  It looks like I will be leavin about the 17th of June and prolly returning the beginning of August!    Thanx guys!!!
